Funeraliile prințului Philip, răposatul soț al reginei Elisabeta a II-a, au avut loc sâmbătă, 17 aprilie, la Capela Saint George, în incinta Castelului Windsor.

Regina Elisabeta a II-a și-a pierdut soțul alături de care a trăit timp de 73 de ani, pierderea fiind una imensă pentru suverană.
Slujba religioasă a început cu un minut de reculegere la nivel naţional, de la ora locală 15:00. Funeraliile ducelui de Edinburgh s-au desfășurat în conformitate cu ultimele dorinţe ale acestuia şi au reprezentat o ocazie pentru a omagia şi a celebra viaţa şi activitatea de peste 70 de ani desfăşurată de prințul Philip în slujba Reginei, a Marii Britanii şi a organizaţiei Commonwealth.
Înmormântarea Prinţului Philip a fost organizată sub forma unei ceremonii funerare regale, la fel ca în cazul fostei Regine-mamă (mama reginei Elisabeta a II-a, n.r.), fără să îmbrace însă forma unor funeralii de stat – o ceremonie rezervată în general doar monarhilor.
Soțul Reginei Elisabeta a II-a, care a murit la data de 9 aprilie, și-a dorit o slujbă cât mai discretă. Prințul Harry a fost prezent la ceremonie, neînsoțit însă de soția lui, Meghan Markle.
Atât Ducii de Cambridge, Prințul William și Kate Middleton, au afișat durerea pierderii pe chip, însă cel care abia își mai putea stăpâni lacrimile a fost Prințul Charles, fiul Ducelui de Edinburgh, roșu la față pe parcursul ceremoniei. Regina a purtat o mască de protecție de culoare neagră, care i-a mai ascuns din expresiile faciale, însă în privirea sa se putea citi suferința.
